Sitting atop a hill amidst an apple and pear orchard, this country home was purchased by the client as an all-season country retreat. The project involved master planning of the site, working with the existing barn house. Selective subtractions and additions were made to the timber frame to enhance its livability and visibility. A pool, cabana, and three-car garage were designed to complement the site. The buildings were designed using a rural/industrial aesthetic, clad in prefinished white shingles with galvanized trim, roofs, and windows. The attached grain silo is re-purposed to a cedar-clad wine cellar.
